Frozen is a lovely animated film watched by many, either when it was screened in cinema or on DVD. Whilst the movie is more ‘girly’ than not, it does uphold some great comedy moments and adventure too.
The movie manages to combine a traditional fairy-tale musical with some modern moments. Those with daughters are likely to enjoy the fact that the story concentrates on the sisterly love and not just romantic love alone – And with Sibling Day only a few days behind us, this seems apt to write about.
The overall theme of love is somewhat slushy – but the movie shares the notion that love can thaw a frozen heart… This is a relationship lesson we can all learn from… We have all been there right? When love has turned out wrong, or unexpected, sometimes cruel… and as a result love has turned us cold, it is safer sometimes to self preserve…
…To build a frozen wall between yourself and any future potential love – a love that could eventually hurt you again… But you know, this is living and yes in life people lie, they decieve and they betray… But not everybody does these things and to be open and warm to the positive possibilities of love is what life is all about – be it a sibling relationship, a romantic one or even just thawing out the frozen affection towards yourself, and loving yourself a little more too.
So beyond the amazing animation, dramatic songs, predicatable story line, there is a messge that we may have been told plenty, but perhaps we do not always listen… So Frozen tells us to embrace the love we are surrounded with daily and leave the frozen stuff for skiing, ice scultures and snowmen. So as far as family movies go, Frozen is a winner!
Here are five ways to stay warm with love:
- Smile more – at everything – let it turn into a big wide smile or even laughter.
- Appreciate more – nature and the small things that make up your day.
- Start to see the good in all – even those things and people you perhaps do not like.
- Be kind to yourself and others – E.G. STOP criticizing people for what they choose to wear, and STOP criticizing yourself.
- Do things you enjoy so love comes easily.
